Carlos' Pilgrimage to Rome

Carlos in RomeFrom January 3rd through the 11th, all the seminarians currently studying theology at saint Francis de Sales Seminary, had the blessing to pilgrim to Italy.  It was a beautiful trip in which we had the chance to visit Orvieto, Assisi, Subiaco and Rome.  We spent most of our time in Rome, visiting central places to our Catholic faith like the Vatican: Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican museums, and the Pontifical North American College among other places.

Of all the places we visited, the one that moved me the most was the place where Saint Francis is buried in Assisi.  If you visit his shrine in Assisi and go down into the little chapel where his body rests, you will find that four of his best friends are buried around him!  This was a very meaningful detail to me, since I believe in the importance of good friendships for our lives and there I prayed to God for the gift of good friendships for me as well as I journey towards God willing the Priesthood of Jesus Christ.

I prayed for each one of you especially in front of the bones of Saint Peter which were recently discovered and are exposed for public veneration!  I look forward to seeing you on the weekend of the 27th of January!

Yours,

Carlos Londono
